NEC termination of conductors

I'm looking to find if in the NEC there is specific verbiage about the termination of conductors - that they must be properly terminated and if so how they should be terminated. I have seen this written in a few different ways, but wondered what NEC article describes this best?

NEC conductor termination

NEC conductor termination

Would it be:

Conductor terminal and splicing devices must be identified for the conductor material, and they must be properly installed and used.

I submit that the meat in the answer of your question is in NEC 110.14.

I note that you are using the 2017 (per your profile). In the 2017 NEC 110.14, (D) is newly added. This requirement expands the use of job-site-present torque tools.
