I am hoping to get Charlie E. to respond to this, or if anyone else knows please feel free to respond. Charlie: I remember you talking about a task group the NEC has for "user-friendliness" or something to that extent. Is this where you would go to have have something changed/added/removed from the index? If so, how does one get a hold of this group? Thanks.

Re: Nec usability

The usability task force was appointed be the TCC (I think). You don't "get a hold of this group" but you may make proposals to the Code (too late for the 2005 but you may when the 2008 Code is open for proposals).

To address the index, I don't have a clue as to the persons/group that does that work. I know that it is not in the purview of the Code Making Panels. I suspect that it is the work of the NFPA staff. An e-mail to Mark Earley may be in order. :)

Charlie: Thanks for your timely reply, I knew I could count on you for it. :D Are you saying that I should e-mail the gentleman you speak of? If so what is his e-mail address? Or, if you intend to do the e-mailing, would you get back to me on this? Thanks again.

Re: Nec usability

I think Mark Early would be the person. I spoke with him last fall at an IAEI meeting, I suggested that the electronic version of the NEC include the index-often I would want to print out a list of articles...and couldn't. He was interested in this and other suggestions.

Re: Nec usability

Ryan, if you e-mail it to me, I will forward it on to Mark. I couldn't find his e-amil address on the NFPA web site so I will not give it out. I do not know if Mark wants to keep it private, at least to the point of not posting on a web site.
