I am working on a project in the Bahamas and I believe (from the Bahamas Building Code 2003) that the electrical falls under the Canadian Electric Code.
[is this true?]
I do not have a copy of the CEC at this point. I hear that the equipment must be cUL listed (UL listing not accepted). I would think that the UL would be sufficient for cUL listings or at least be backwards compatible.
I wouldn't believe it had I not seen it with my own two eyes:
Electrical Code(Bahamas)
A compilation of definitions, rules and requirements concerning the installation, operation, and maintenance of all types of electrical wiring, equipment, and devices as set forth in the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, of the Canadian Standards Association, CSA Designation C22.1, (as modified by Chapter 44 of the Building and Sanitary Code of The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited and Bahamas Government regulations)
"Every electrical device or component must be certified by the Canadian Standards Association (or recognized equivalent) before it can be sold in Canada. Implicit in this is that all wiring must be done with CSA-approved materials. They perform testing similar to the UL (a bit more stringent), except that CSA (or recognized equivalent) approval is required by law."

In accordance with the SCC requirements it must be located at 8 o’clock to the registered trademark "UL." This small "c" signifies that the equipment is, indeed, certified by the U.S. based Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to the CSA Safety Standards for Electrical Equipment - Part II standards"
Certified to Canadian Standards by one of the following certification organizations: Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Entela Inc. (entela), Warnock Hersey Professional Services Limited (WHPS), Underwriter's Laboratories Inc (cUL), ETL Testing Laboratories Inc. (ETL), Canadian Gas Association (CGA), Underwriter's Laboratories of Canada (ULC) and MET (MET), Omni-Test Laboratories Inc. (OMNI), TUV Rheinland of North America Inc. (TUV), Quality Auditing Institute (QAI), TUV America Product Services Division (TUV-PS), QPS Evaluation Services (QPS).
