NEC Word Count?

Call it trivia, but what is the word count for the NEC? The KJV Bible has 783,137 for comparison. Someone must know.

I have been counting for years and every time I get close the new edition takes over and I have to start over again

Honestly, it would be hard to count with all the charts and tables etc. There is the index, cmp members, the annexes, etc

Since the NEC is available as a .pdf, and at least some .pdf readers have a word count feature, I hoped some fine fellow here would know.

When the NEC changed to the large format in 1999, I kept track of the increasing page count. Then 2 cycles ago the NEC was printed with a smaller font and thinner paper.
But the word count would show increase regardless of publishing changes

I just did a quick scan of the 2017: 668,459

The program doesn't tell me what it's counting as words. (numbers, names, etc.)

Unfortunately the AHJ never has much to say about witch edition is the one to use, and local contractors never can seem to agree either. lol
