NEC Article 725
I have a MV(medium vloltage)switchgear electrically operated breaker which is controlled from a remote location. The breaker control voltage is 125vdc and this control voltage is being used to interrogate the remote start/stop commands. The control bus in the breaker is protected by 15amp fuses. Based on my interpretation of Article 725 we can not use anything smaller that a 14AWG control cable to pick up the remote start/stop commands. Also, I understand that Article 240.4(A) over rules the statement in Article 725 which requires a minimum of 14AWG. Please confirm that I am correctly interpreting the NEC requirements and therefore I can not use 16AWG control cable for the above, but have to use a minimum of #14AWG control cable.
