an apprentice asked me a code question that i could not find. where in the code book does it state that a flexible connection is needed at a motor, transformer or other connection point where there is movement or vibrations?

Re: nec

This is really a design issue and not really a code requirement. The code does allow certain types of conduit systems and raceways to be used for the need for flexibility. The respective code will also show exceptions to support and securing requirements in these conditions. Obviously if there is going to be a vibration or movement issue, a flexible connection would be needed.

i also looked for the answer to that same question and found out that it isn't in the code. imo i would have to put it in the same thing as allowing for expansion and contraction. even though they don't expand and contract, they do move. not much, but they do move.
