Necessity of installing a disconnector switch on the ELECTRONIC TRAP PRIMER

At the current construction site, the mechanical part installs the ELECTRONIC TRAP PRIMER, and the electrical part supplies power. During the construction inspection, it was pointed out that a separate disconnect switch should be installed on the ELECTRONIC TRAP PRIMER. There is no mention of the disconnect switch in our contract drawings. Is it necessary to install it according to the NEC code? Which NEC code passage does it correspond to?

Interesting question. I've never installed a disco on a trap primer. I assumed that the branch circuit breaker could serve as the disconnecting means.

What is a trap primer?

A plumbing trap "Primer" seals gases from entering the structure. Without a trap primer, it will eventually dry out and allow gas to escape. In every home a plumbing fixture has a trap, but since the plumbing fixture is always being used, the trap is always filled with water. No "Trap Primer" is needed.

If you go into a commercial bathroom with a floor drain and it stinks it is usually the trap for the floor drain has dried out and is letting sewer gas in.

Of course there could be other reasonso_Oo_Oo_Oo_O

From that submittal and the installation instructions I still can't determine how the electrical supply is supposed to be brought in and what they expect to be used to supply it. All I see is to take the cover off the timer and connect the wiring inside. If they intend a cord and plug (doubtful, but they do say white, black and green) then the plug serves as the disconnect. If hard wired I would think that the internal circuit breaker would serve as a disconnect if it can be manually operated.

Just like Infinity, I've never installed a disconnect on a trap primer. I don't believe there is any code article that requires one. It doesn't fit any of the criteria that calls for disconnects in the NEC. It is not a motor, not an appliance, and not a sign.

Found this. Looks like the MFG calls for a disconnect. This may not be the model you have as this one is 24 volts. Install instructions are on their web site.
