Need advice on "data logger"

We were approached by a group that wants us to do some "data logging" to verify claims for some "power saving unit". The new form of the scam seems to be a unit that hooks up to the blower motor of fan coil units.
Anyway, we need to be able to measure volt, amps, and run-time, probably for no more than a 24 hour period. I have looked at a wide variety of these, and thought maybe someone here may be able to shorten my learning curve for selection. Probably should have SD memory? Am trying to find something relatively inexpensive as we will have to purchase several. The control study involves 100 units.
I already warned the group that I will take one apart and post pictures; they said fine.

Flukes have a faster learning curve (the435's) also cost less to rent.

We use Drantez, Fluke, RPM, and Hyoki's all decent.
