Hello All,
I an going to be installing a single speed ceiling exhaust fan in my home(a 210 cfm home depot
special) and am wondering if there is a speed control available for it.I thought it would be a good idea to be able to throttle this down a little as it will be used in a smoking area and I may not need full power all the time. I know they make them for ceiling fans but I could not locate one for an exhaust fan. Any ideas or suggestions? The reason I ask is I don't do a lot of residential work, mainly industrial.
Thanks in advance.

I read the description for that and assumed it was one for a paddle fan. The HD website can get confusing like that. Now I just read the reviews on it and someone says it won't fit in a gang box because of the heatsink. Joy. I think I'll stop at the electrical supply house after work tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

The fan you have is probably a shaded pole motor. Most ceiling paddle fans are PSC motors.

I believe same controllers would work on either type motor in most cases. Main thing is making sure you get a controller that is rated for the load, which sounds like your motor is small enough that should not be too much of a problem.
