Need Circuit Tracer for Live Circuits

I'm working on an old school that has been remolded at least ten times. Their are 14 PBs at different locations, and their is no logical way to determine which branch circuits lands at which PB. ie. a recep 6' away from PB 7 is fed from a PB that is 3 floors away. I tried using a cheap circuit tracer made by GB, after a half hour I threw it away. Needless to say, I need to get a good quality circuit tracer that will function on live circuits. Any recommendations???

Yes, to trace working live circuits all he needs is the basic two components, not sure about it being half the price.

But having had both the basic set and the complete set I would want it all. :)

He will need to shop around for prices, and I would want it all also.... :cool:

just got a flyer in the mail for that one...at $900 it's not a bargain...

ironically, unless it's a mission critical circuit, we've had tremendous luck with the Ideal circuit tracer...

i would estimate it to be about 95% accurate - even on QO twin breakers...

we have one in each truck, been using them for about 8 yrs now...great for identifying a circuit to shut it down.

but for mass identification, the unit Celtic posted may be a good idea...

I just got that flyer, too...that is why I asked about it.

Considering the volume of work/isues the OP has here...even at the $900 price tag...you guys still feel the Ideal model (I actually have a similar Ideal model to the one emahler posted) would be cost effective?

I do not have the AT-2005 in my arsenal...yet :)
