Hi
We are building one medical clinic(Dental) in US Naval Base,Bahrain.Drawings shows each treatment rooms have 3 nos of 110 V receptacles. Some of them are near to the counter top wash basin. As per NEC 210.8 (B) and 550.13(B),GFCI has to be provided. But in 517.21 it is saying that GFCI is not required for receptacles installed in those critical care areas where the toilet and basin are installed within the patient room...
Anybody can advise...?
Thanks in advance

Without pulling the Code book--you do not have a critical care area. Therefore 517.21 does not apply.

I would also assume the area isn't critical care, unless they are putting people under to do oral surgery. Also, this doesn't fit any of the requirements in 210.8(B) or 550.13.

I don't think the NEC requires GFCI for your application. But I would make them GFCI anyway, just for the added safety (unless it is a critical care area, and loosing power would be a major problem).
