Long-time lurker, finally joined because I'm wiring my first gas boiler and need advice with wiring the circulators. I've never touch a gas boiler before but am trying to take on the task for a friend. Its a Burnham Series 2 gas boiler with 2 separate zones. Thermostats are heat only (two-wire). I have all the wiring done besides thermostat connections and the Taco circulator connections.

I'm not sure which/what to hook up. The manual is a little confusing since it lists several wiring diagrams and is unclear. Has anyone ever wired these or think you could help me figure it out?

Also (probably a stupid question) but do I need a aquastat? :dunce:

Hopefully these pictures will help:

Thank a lot, I greatly appreciate any help!

You need a Taco zone control relay for pumps if the pumps are for heat zones.

1.Thermostat wires connect to the zone control relay TT terminals.
2.Connect the boilers TT yellow wires to the Taco relay end switch terminals.
3.Connect the pumps to the Taco zone control relay. (I use 14-2 MC cable)

You won't use the system circulator or DHW wires in the 4 inch square. Leave them capped off and just connect the power. They are for a different set up.

The gas boiler is a cold start system and when the thermostat calls for heat it signals the zone control relay which kicks on the pump and makes the normally open end switch terminals firing the gas boiler. Hot water would be from a separately fired gas water heater.

In Massachusetts you have to install a carbon monoxide detector also.
