The GC has stone exterior finish on specific parts of the home I just finished roughing. I stopped by to put in a few boxes for the exterior outlet circuits (wire is stubbed out already) and found that the stone guys had already installed stone up to my wire. Stone is around 2" thick on average. Home owner doesn't want surface mount boxes (understandably so) on a new home. If you have any cool ideas please share your experiences as I'm always trying to learn new ways. Plan for now is to cut the stone with a diamond wheel and install a cut in with extra duty cover. Going off the 17' NEC. Thanks!

I always put a box on the stubbed out wire and tell the masons to fit it in with their work. Doesn't always happen but I also ask that they leave a flat spot for a light back or canopy if that is what the box is for.
To the OP:
Since the stone is already in place, I would ask the GC to ask the stoners to cut out enough stone to fit the box.

We use the retrofit Arlington In Box (DBVM1W) and the GC's will build a a frame (rectangular donut) the size of the flange to build the box out enough to be just recessed slighty beyone the face of the stone. The masons then just stone right up to the side of the box.

If the masons haven't surrounded the wire then I would do what Curt Swartz mentioned. That would look sharp.
I was was thinking that the wire was surrounded by masonry.
