Need of manholes

Do we need manholes for the direct buried cables and if not how

we can do the splices?

There are underground splice kits made specifically for direct burial cable. No manhole is needed

I wouldn't waste the time or the money on manholes for a DB application. The odds of the cable failing somewhere other than the splice point are very high.

Are you just adding length to conductors, tapping off in more than one direction, or repairing a spot that went bad? (in other words - why the splices?)


If repairing a bad spot I find a backhoe makes a pretty good manhole - make repairs with direct burial materials and then direct bury again.
