I have been on several jobs here in fl and have gone behind other contractor's. they have split bolt connection's and all of the emer cir cond are all spliced in the panel they also have a 90 amp brkr in the main panel which feeds back to it when it is supposed to be seperated by the auto trans sw.

First thing you should know is you do not install 'emergency' generators in homes. You install optional standby generators.

This makes a big difference in the NEC rules you must follow.

The NEC allows splicing in panels.

If the breakers have mechanical interlocks between the generator main and the utility main no ATS is required.

If there is no interlock than that is a major safety issue.

Generators (optional standby systems) installations are just about the most cited jobs for non-compliance with the NEC in this area. It's hard to understand why. There are such a wide range of products available on the market today that simplify the installation of generators.

I don't exactly follow your description above. Is there a specific aspect or issue you are not sure how it should be done?
