I have a circuit that originates in a basement panel that feeds two baseboard heaters in a three season room. Total load is 3000 watts. The heaters have the built-in thermostats that regulate the room temperature. The customer wants to be able to switch the circuit on and off with some kind of switch that times out after about four hours. The goal is to prevent the heaters from being left on when there is nobody in the room.

My first thought was to use a wind up timer and put it near each heater but there is no wall space for a switch and the noise from a ticking timer would not be acceptable. An electronic timer would not be good because I would have to mount it near the floor. The customer suggested a relay in the basement with some kind of wireless remote controller that would turn the circuit on and also time out after about four hours. The only thing I can think of is a time switch and relay down by the panel but that is a very long way from the heated room.
