It's hard to tell from your picture. It could be a UPS or emergency lighting inverter. Do any of those cabinets contain batteries? Post a close-up of the front panel display and we should be able to identify it.

Hard to tell, but I see what appears to be only 2bus bars into a breaker or fused switch, then a contactor, then out. That would imply DC, so it wouldn't be a VFD is this is the entire thing. But still might be part of the DC side of a UPS, or maybe a DC drive.

It would also help if we could see what was in the cabinets that flank this one. I tend to agree that this is DC and is only one piece of the system. Is there any literature in the doors?

Don't laugh.... could this be a controller for an emergency lighting system w/battery backup?
