Need to save an Electrical Inspection Certificate?

Basically, the chain of events is:

apply for service
build it
have it inspected
utility connects power
inspector sends completed certificate



What should be done with the certificate?
Have you ever needed to produce the certificate for any reason?

I don't deal with the certificates. That's between the POCOs and AHJs in my area.

The AHJ sends the cert. to the POCO, basically stating it's OK to hook it up. I only need to call for the 2 inspections.

I don't know anything about a "certificate." When I had my service upgraded, the inspector placed a signed sticker on the meter itself.

Everywhere is different, on a panel change out we don't issue a "job card" since it is usually just one inspection.

Even though our signed permit is the only "official" record, if something were to happen like we get back to the office and forget to sign our paperwork, then you can always show the "job card" to prove that the work had been signed off.

The homeowner or business owner should get the copy so that they can keep them with their household records.

Here we usually receive a paper copy of the inspection results, and we keep them in the file with the rest of the job paperwork.

We are similar, we have hard cards that get signed(sometimes) and I call poco and release the installation for power, no certificates.
