Took a 20+ year hiatus from industrial electrical and what appears? Variable Frequency Drives! Now that I am back in the saddle I need to school myself quickly on this technology. Anybody have any ideas as to how I might get up to speed quickly? If there is anyone knowledgeable in this area that would entertain questions I would love it.

Here are some ideas for learning the lay of the VFD land: Google "variable frequency drive" and pick your way thru the results. Contact a VFD manufacturer's rep (AB, ABB, Vacon, Cutler Hammer, the list is seemingly endless) and ask if there are any training classes available. Ask for VFD literature (or get it online) and read it. Most OEM literature has some type of introductory material on drive applications.

Great ideas. Thanks you very much!
