Hi, first post here...
I work for the training department for a large industrial plant, and my boss has asked me to purchase training materials for motors/motor controls. Our electrical shop has about 35 electricians with widely varied skill sets, and some of them need help with their troubleshooting and control wiring skills.
We purchased a computer troubleshooting simulator, Simutech's "Troubleshooting Industrial Controls". It's excellent for intermediate to advanced electricians, but we've have found this program to be a bit too advanced for some and not quite as useful for beginners as hands-on training. So we're building a training starter board with start/stop/forward/reverse/jog/etc stations, some indicator lamps, some "remote" status/alarm indicators, and maybe a float/pressure switch. The idea is to build the simplest control circuit and work up to more complex scenarios.
With this training board, I'd also like to purchase some motor controls training textbooks and workbooks. This is where I need help, as it's been a while since I was an apprentice.... does anybody have recommendations?
