Need transforrmer for test

I'm looking for leads on where to purchase a 120 VAC single phase input transformer with a 3 phase secondary. The 3 phase voltage can be as low as 6VAC per phase so long as I can load it to 3 amps per phase. (If I can only get a 120 in and three 120's out I will be stepping the voltage down to 6VAC for saftey purposes.) The phases need to be near 120 degrees +/- 10%.

This transformer will be used in a test fixture to simulate 3 phase motor power. The device I'm testing only needs to sense the presence of current at the various phase angles. No real work will be done with this transformer/voltages.

Any leads?

What you are looking for does not exist. A transformer cannot create a three phase system from single phase.

You need a phase convertor.

Re: Need transforrmer for test

There are aparatuses or aperati or however it's said that do that. In my OEM days we used one for generating 440 cy.

It's a motor attached to a generator.

I don't know where you can get one. We got ours from a failed business auction. :)

Re: Need transforrmer for test

Any single phase motor driving a three phase motor at the correct (rpm's) speed will produce a three phase output. But at a very limited capacity. This is a cheep way to do it. But you will have to excite the three phase motor with the required voltage which the lowest I have seen is 240 or 208/200. The other way is using capacitor banks. But I have only seen this on a wascomatt washer.
