I have a spec that is asking for Nema 12 duplex receptacles installed in rectangular wireways. I have never heard of a receptacle on its own providing Nema 12 rating. I have used the Nema 4/12 enclosures with covers. I have found Nema 12 wireways but there does not seem to be covers for them that would provide the necesary rating for the receptacle.

I have a feeling that the spec's writer knows just enough to be dangerous and is combining bits and pieces of other specs. If anyone has heard of a product(s) that meets this I would be very grateful.

NEMA 12 probably refers to the Voltage rating for a receptacle.
NEMA 12 is a 3-Phase, 480 Volt, Non-Grounding configuration.
For example - L12-20R is a 20 amp Locking Receptacle.

My latest Hubbell catalogue does not even list any L12 devices.
If they did, I don't think they would be available as Duplex, only single.

Of course it could, as you say, refer to a NEMA 12 Wireway, but I have never seen receptacles mounted in it.

You might need to ask for clarification from the spec writer.

Quote from spec "six NEMA 12 duplex receptacles". The spec also calls for 5-20RA duplex receptacles which are standard 20A 120V receptacles.

I will ask the client for clarification.

Thanks for the input.

Just checking we weren't one the 483-phase level.

I remember once ordering some CATV splitters, and getting told no one makes a splitter for Cat 5. ;)
