Does anyone make these or does anyone know a source?

Perusing the usual suspects only goes up to L6-30, 30A 250V locking plug and receptacles. The chart has them but evidentally they aren't very popular.

Let me know.

50 amp is not listed (NEMA) for twist lock. I can't find one? What is the application?

No Locking 50 amp

No Locking 50 amp

There is no NEMA designation for a 250 Volt, 50 Amp Locking Plug/Receptacle.
There are 6-50P's and 6-50R's, but they are Straight-Blade devices.
Hubbell does make various 50 Amp Twist-Lock devices, but they are propriatory because there are no NEMA Locking designations above 30 Amps.

Leviton makes a 3700 series of 50A 250V 2P/3W Grounding Non-NEMA Locking devices. They offer the 3771 single locking receptacle, 3763C Locking Plug, 3762C Locking Connector, and 3777 Flanged Inlet. (Got this info from my 2005 Leviton Catalog.) According to the catalog table, these devices are UL Listed and CSA certified. Hope this helps :)

Do a search for part number CS8265. This is a 'California Style' non-NEMA device, but seems to be a standard that several different manufacturers follow.

Are us "Californians" the only ones that get to use these. They are the norm for job cord temp. power boxs. AKA spyder box. What aplication are you needing them for?

They're common on lots of jobsites as temp power. I use similar boxes for production power at music festivals, street fairs, etc. You can get them from http://www.lexproducts.com/ and http://www.kohlerrental.com/. It's really a great system.

As for the original question, I'd go with either the "california" plug/receptical or the pin-n-sleeve type.

Try NEMA SS-1 50A, 125V, 2pole, 3 wire, locking and grounding.
Commonly used in marinas. Smooth Sailing ... bil
