Can you splice and extend a Hayward ColorLogic 80/40 cord from within a NEMA Rated Type 3 All-Weather Sigma 1420 single outlet box place at grade level, in the path of water runoff, to an elevated junction drive box? An electrician we used did this and I have argued this violates Hayward manufacturing and NEMA ratings for a box that will be exposed to running water over it. https://1drv.ms/u/s!ArY2guv0I7FOiOYAw41GnLAs5j0Gmw?e=8VkFJc

Violating the manufacture's instructions violates NEC Section 110.3(B). Assuming the box is only marked one of the Type 3 series (R, S, X, RX, or SX) violates Section 110.28 as you have described the installation. See Table 110.28.

I moved this to a Forum where it is likely to get better exposure. (It isn't relevant to Hazardous Locations)

The box and cover were rated 3R. Based on the placement it should be at least Type six. Much appreciated!

Does water just "run over it" or does it become "submerged" on somewhat regular basis?

I'd be drilling weep holes as condensation seems to happen within no matter how much you try to avoid it. If submersion is an issue then it simply needs elevated to above highest expected water level.

I don't see what the problem is, it's LV landscape or pool lighting wiring from the driver to the heads. I also don't know where the OP gets his information from either. That cable is rated for direct burial.

My recommendation is to use gel filled wire nuts and a new cover and gasket. Doesn't matter what you do, you are always going to have moisture in there.

He said it is at grade level and in the path of water runoff, which prompted me to ask for more details. It possibly could be submerged according to what he said then it possibly should be N6 instead of 3 or 3R, or moved to where it won't be submerged.
