Does anyone know if a GFCI 2 pole, 240 volt breaker on a NEMA type 5 circuit (2 hots and neutral combined with ground) can be utilized? I want to GFCI protect the feeder going to a concession trailer. The trailer has an older 3 wire hook-up rather than the modern 4 wire hook-up. I'm thinking this is not possible unless it's a 4 wire hook-up, but want to get confirmation. Thank you.

It would have to be a four wire feeder.

Personally I feel protecting the feeder with a GFCI will become a problem in any case. The cumulative leakage current of all the utilization equipment will likely cause nuisance trips.

Much better to protect each branch circuit individually.
