Hi, I have a couple of 20 year old small screwdriver - voltage testers. You touch the hot wire with the screwdriver tip and hold your finger on the end of the handle, and the small neon light comes on to show it is live. I was shopping for better ones, but haven't seen any for sale. They are very convenient. Are they still available? Did they pull them from the market because of safety? Thank you.

AFAIK they are no longer allowed because they rely on a metallic connection to your body rather than the capacitive connection a non contact tester uses.
I have also used a high impedance meter with the black lead in my hand, but the instructions do not allow that!
