I went on a service call to a multi-million dollar residence to find out why the bedroom lights were not working. What I found was a breaker had tripped that was feeding 2 - 15,000V neon transformers in the attic. The neon transformers fed about 10, 6' neon tubes in the master bedroom. My question is how would this have passed an electrical inspection scince section 600.32(I) forbids this installation? and if the work was done after the final inspection what company would want to take on the responsability of a possible house fire caused by installing neon transformers in residences? Thanks.

forget about how or why or when ,,,,,,but do tell us more about this master bed room!!!!!! like. describe the neon tubes and any thing else that might be interesting. :D ....... sounds to me like some major wild life style! and did you get photos?

Re: Neon lights in a residence

Other than hearing the nitty-gritty about this bedroom  What did YOU do when you found the problem?

Re: Neon lights in a residence

My company along with quite a few other sign contractors don't install 15,000 transformers in commercial buildings.

Residential installs usually lack even the least of commercial care. Individuals are alot more likely to let their neon system to get into a sever state of disrepair...

Re: Neon lights in a residence

well CEB I called the senior chief master electrical inspector who immediately came to the house where he watched as I removed ALL of the neon tubing, transformers, and branch circuits. I then called the local police as I had noticed drug parafanalia on the home owners night stand. The police came to the house and gave the home owner a thourough cavity search where they found 2 grams of heroin. He is now serving 2 years in jail and the judge said because he didnt pay me the $100 service call fee that I may now live in the house while he is incarcerated.
