NESC Question Regarding EGC

I have a question for anyone that has experience with the NESC. Does the NESC require an EGC?

From what I read; except for coal mines, the NESC doesn't appear to require an EGC.

The NESC does require an EGC, however it is often also a neutral. Section 93 of the NESC is a good starting point for reference.
