How do you calculate the total neutral current for the following: 6amp/120v dishwasher, 10 amp/120v air condition, 3amp/120 volt disposal, that is on a 100amp feed.

Re: Neutral calculation

6 + 10 + 3 = 19.

These are all single phase 120 volt loads. Any current flowing in the phase conductor will return via the neutral conductor. If there were any 240 volt loads, then they would not have a neutral current. If there were any 120/240 volt loads, then you need more information before proceeding.

Is this a homework question or a real installation?

Re: Neutral calculation

As Charlie said we need more information. What type of system is supplying these loads and how will they be connected? Single phase 120/240? Three phase 120/208? Etc.

Re: Neutral calculation

If all of your loads are connected to the same ungrounded conductor, the neutral load will be the sum of currents as Charles has indicated. If the loads are connected across a 240/120 volt, single-phase Edison system; with the dishwasher 6 amps and disposal 3 amps connected to the same ungrounded conductor and the AC unit 10 amps on the the?other ungrounded conductor; the neutral current on the feeder is the difference between 10 - (3+6)= 1 amp.
