Why is the neutral conductor for a bathroom circuit with a GFIC outlet landed on the neutral bar on the opposite side of the breaker panel from the bathroom circuit breaker?

Electrically it doesn't matter as long as it's on a neutral bar. It just might be that physically the installer put it there because it was easier or maybe more direct or maybe the only place available if the circuit was added later. There is nothing that says the neutral and breaker have to be near each other.
