I read a while back a post, that I now can't find, that spoke of a member wanting to use a single neutral for multiple circuits, more than two.

I believe that the question went like so, "I have a panel change and in the crawl space I have 5 circuits. To avoid conduit fill requirement, I would like to use a single neutral for these circuits."

The response went like so, "You can use a single neutral for multiple circuits as long as the single neutral has the same AREA as all of the neutrals added together".

Do I have this right?

Re: Neutral Question

Allen what would single or three phase have to do with it?

Norb, the neutral would have to be sized to carry the maximum combined load that could be imposed on it from one leg or phase.

For instance, lets say on leg #1 you have three 20 amp circuits and on leg #2 you have two, you would need a neutral conductor rated for 60 amps.
