From an industry perspective and also from an NEC perspective, is it still considered appropriate terminology to use the term "neutral" synonymously with "grounded"? I would like to hear some opinions and/or facts about this.

Thanks,

Bob

Re: neutral vs. grounded

The neutral and grounded conductor are synonymous until you get to a 120/240V, 3?, 4w system or a corner grounded delta. Even with those systems, most people have no problem referring to the grounded conductor as the neutral even though it doesn't meet the definition. :D

Re: neutral vs. grounded

I thought the term "neutral" was going to be defined in the 2005. I don't see it. Did this get dumped in the comment stage or by the standards council?
