I am installing a new double oven as part of a minor kitchen remodel. The original branch does not have the capacity I need, so I have to install a new branch. The new oven is rated at 8.4KW. There is no attic access, so an electrician suggested running EMT with 6/3 NM along the ceiling/wall junction in the garage, from the panel to the garage/kitchen wall. On the kitchen side of the wall is cabinets situated in an L-shape. The new oven is at the farthest end of the "L". My question is can I run 6/3 NM inside 3/4" FMC, if properly fastened, along the back bottom of the cabinet to the new oven box? The electrician suggested running the cable along the countertop backsplash wall, notched in the backsplash wall studs (I haven't installed the new backsplash yet). I could do this, but it is messy and time consuming. Please respond with your suggestions.

Thanks

Re: New branch for new oven

This NEC? Forum is for those in the electrical and related industries. Questions of a "How-To" nature by persons not involved in the electrical industry will be removed without notice.

You need to be dealing with at least one additional electrician to get a second opinion and bid on the job at hand. We do not know what local amendments to the NEC are in your area and cannot give you advice since we can't be sure that you are even asking the correct questions. I am locking this thread. Charlie
