new breaker Panel?

My father-in law's single family house was built in 1969 in arvada co. {A suberb of Denver}. He has A Federal Pasiffic panel, 100A 120v/240v service. his insurance company has informed him if he dose'nt install a new updated panel his insurance will be canceled. They have provided no reason or substantiated proof of of any existing problem. In adition he has'nt had any problems with this panel. Should he have to replace his panel ?

If he wants HO insurance he should.

In April 2005, a class action lawsuit involving FPE was settled in NJ.

You do have a resale opportunity for that old FPE panel. It would make an great panel for a metal shop. They are excellent welding breakers.
