I’m doing my first service, and have everything lined up except for one issue. I have to provide my own lugs for the load side wiring, and the meter can I was provided has specific lugs listed. These lugs seem to have a month long lead time and are overly expensive. How much attention does an inspector pay to this? For reference, I’m in a rural county with an inspector who does all inspections for the county, not just electrical. The building inspector here is new as well, so nobody really knows his preferences or demeanor. What do y’all think? POCO has been no help either.

Who provided you with the list ? (PowerCompany ?)
That's who would need to approve alternates.
Normally most any lug is acceptable.

Are these just crimp on lugs? I have not seen long lead times on those lately.

POCO designated a specific lug then AHJ would also likely be aware of that. Have heard in multiple cases where the AHJ is the sole one in an area they tend to be very picky and sometimes even make up their own criteria in some cases.

Lead time maybe an issue but overly expensive?, You only pass this on to the customer, and with a limited allowed product everyone is on same level field and dealing with same pricing issues so customer has no choice if they want service. Only thing might be an established EC may have a stock of the items and maybe buying in bulk getting a slightly better price. If you have a decent relationship with another EC in the area they may be willing to sell you some surplus to alleviate the long lead time, but usually at a markup.

Is this a 320/400 amp meter base? Our poco usually supplies those, you just have to tell them what size and how many conductors, but every poco is different.
