Hello again, In my OP I asked for help on installing drop cords with 2 gang j-boxes in the middle of a warehouse to supply a small (Les Nesman style) office. Thanks for the replies, they were very helpful and now I have a clue on the best way to accomplish this... What I've come up with is to install (1) dbl 20a dbl pole breaker at the panel, run 1/2 conduit aprox. 15' to the ceiling, over aprox 20' to the center of the warehouse, Installing (1) 4S (this would be looped and ran through so another drop cord could be added at a later date), then down aprox 50' to a 2nd 4S j-box, then teeing off aprox. 7 ft to (2) 4S j-boxes (one on each side) and then from these installing (2) drop cords that hang aprox 20'down with 2 gang j-boxes in the middle of a warehouse to supply a small (Les Nesman style) office. To do this I thought I should use (4) #12 copper wire, (2) black (1) white (1) ground which would run to the 2nd 4S j-box> My question is, Does this sound like the best/right way and do I need to figure in VD calculations.

(Question 2) I've been a member for awhile and just started to figure out that this could be a great tool if I take the time to use it...Am I using this as it was intended to be used? Theres definitely been times (like now) that I could use some help...I also see a place for pics to help with describing the question, Is there a limit on what can be added or can I direct them to my website that I use to send out quotes and get info...Thanks

I am not completely sure if this new question is a continuation of this other thread:

Since you are just getting started in active participation, I'll let this go. But in the future, please don't start a new thread to continue an old discussion. It gets too confusing for the membership to follow the discussion.

But to answer one of your new questions, I would ask you not to post a link to your own web site. We do not permit advertising, and I consider linking to a company web site used to send out quotes to be advertising.

As to posting pictures, that is certainly allowed. You need to place the picture on a publicly accessible web site (phototbucket.com is one, and there are many others). Then you copy the web address from the photo into your post on this Forum.

If I read your post correctly, you are dropping from the ceiling with a flexible cord(s) to receptacles serving a open office. Is this a permanent wiring installation, or does the office move around the warehouse?

Where I practice, the inspectors would cite 400.8(1) and not allow it unless the office moved around.

drops to 4's

drops to 4's

A possible word of acution....somewhere over the years I was "gigged" for 4" sq boxes on ends of cord drops. I can't put my finger on it in NEC (perhaps someone else can) and my ole brain thinks it was OSHA.
The possibilty of a K.O. (filler) being pushed into a condctor, I believe.
A "bell" or "FS" might be a better choice, IF you go this route. (taking jester reply into account)
