new circuits for tire changing,spin balancing machines non classified garage

Have 4 tire machines to run power to,one is 240v 20a, plug was missing,so ran 4 wires to 30a disco fused at 20a and hard wired,supplied with double pole 20a breaker ,isolated neutral from ground.Is this code complaint? The other machines have 110v plugs on them,do they require gfci,or single receptacle,two are 15a ,one 10a,is there also aheight requirement for these receptacles.All wiring was done with emt conduit,4by 4 junction boxes,no.12 thhn seperate circuits.

Sounds OK. Height restrictions usually dictated by classified areas that may be present, especially along floor. Check article 511.

I agree that it sounds ok. 18" above the floor is require to keep it out of the classified area, but read 511 as sgunsel suggested.

Doesn't sound compliant to me. Was the machine equipped with a flexible cord that you completely replaced with a "hard" wiring method or did you run an existing flexible cord into the disconnect and wire it to the lugs? The latter would run into 400.8 Uses Not Permitted ("As a substitute for the fixed wiring of a structure").

Unless there were other circumstances, I would have installed a 240v 20a receptacle and put a new plug on the machine (or left that to the owner). Cheaper and easier IMHO.
