Hey all,

I have recently moved from a commercial foreman role to a project manager/estimator. We do primarily small to mid-size commercial projects. My boss has bought McCormick and I have been getting myself pretty familiar with the software. Are there any tips/tricks that you can share or any hard lessons that you have learned as an estimator? I am pretty well versed on the installation side of things, but estimating job numbers are new to me.

Hello, I advise you to develop relationships with suppliers early. They’ll save you time on pricing, alternates, and product availability — and sometimes warn you about spec traps. Small details like different fixture mounting heights, unfinished ceiling spaces, or ceiling access panels can blow up labor. so, Always check reflected ceiling plans and architectural details.
