I read the previous thread on estimating new contruction. wide variation in pricing, possibly because of demographic.
My question is to those of you who charge by the oppening what materials are included in that price. also to the by the sq ft bids are you including all material? TIA

Re: new home

In my opinion estimates should be based on a percentage of the sale price of the home plus extras. This way your profit is more value based verses cost base.

Problem is average home price in ca.is insane, way overpriced. one area may cost 900,000 for 3000 sq ft. same home 10 miles away is 500,000

Re: new home

I tend to agree with the EC price being a percentage of the selling price--

XXXXXX Electric Co proposes to wire this house for 20% of the selling price.

I can see the GC laughing. EC gets

$100K for a $500K house. Works for me!

Re: new home

too bad all the residential electrical contractors were on the same page!!! they could retire after ten years of service!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: new home

To answer original post, my pricing includes everything except light fixtures and appliances. But since I price per unit, I'd be glad to supply anything they want. ;)
