I thought the same thing when I passed the EC test years ago. But then I found out about the 60 hours of required classroom work at a local community college and decided not to bother. Might do in the future if I stop working so much.

The way I see it, that's only 26 more hours than the CE required
:p

what the heck? I'll go for it.

I took about 50 hrs of CE for this new cycle, it wasn't that bad.

Re: new jersey electrial inspectors licence ?

I recently took 8 hours of a CE class on calculations. The class was marginally informative, not because it was bad, but more so because I had already studied most of the material.

This got me to thinking, in 3 years I'll need to take another 24 CE credits so when I take the same course over again, covering the same basic calculations what am I going to learn? Nothing. Just going to blow another $150 and waste an entire Sunday. For that reason I find the 24 hours every 3 years to be a joke. Code update every 3 years is a great idea. Rehashing old material isn't.

Re: new jersey electrial inspectors licence ?

Was on the board of electrical contractors site looking through the minutes page, seems their going to look into accepting the inspector courses being acceptable for the CEU
requirements.

Letter dated September 15, 2005, received from Susan H. McLaughlin, Supervisor-Education Unit, Department of Community Affairs, requesting a meeting with the continuing education sub-committee to discuss a reciprocal arrangement with the Department of Community Affairs and the Board regarding continuing education.

Mrs. Cook stated that she is in the process of scheduling a meeting with Ms. McLaughlin to discuss an arrangement between the Board and the Department of Community Affairs concerning the continuing education courses. Mrs. Cook also stated that licensed electrical contractors who are also licensed electrical inspectors may be attending courses to renew their inspectors license that are very similar to the courses to renew their electrical contractors license, but may not count as these courses are not previously approved by the Board.

Celtic, you're right. My point was that if I liked instructor A and took his 4-8 hours courses in 2006 and wanted to take his courses again in 2009 I would be learning the same material all over again. There is no requirement by the state for me to take different courses.

True - but not your "style".
Correct me if I am wrong.

True. I have liked some of the classes that Frangipane has offered in the past. My point is that if I only took his classes they would become redundant. So I've taken courses from a few different sources. Ed from ITA is an excellent instructor. His seminars are well thought out and planned. Made the time go by rather quickly, which is great when you're spend 8 hours of a day in the classroom.

I remember Chris P. Tall guy, very funny. Makes the code update class actually fun if you could do such a thing!

As far as I know Chris is still teaching with Bob. They were together 3 years ago when I took the 2002 code update. He's very knowledgeable and funny which is one reason that I like recommend Bob's classes when people ask me.
