I have mentioned a few times that the company I work for is very slow right now. I've averaged 20 hrs a week since the new year - and at that I am still much more fortunate than some.

What I have been doing is, on the days I don't work, I go around to different company's and ask if they are accepting applications or resumes. I almost never got to fill out an application, but usually they would accept a resume. I also posted on some job boards on-line.

I finally got a call from a place I had left a resume at almost 2 months ago. They had just landed a few contracts, and needed some guys. I start a week from tomorrow.

I wanted to let the guys here that are not working right now to not give up. Keep looking, and be proactive. Get someone to help you with your resume (My sister helped with mine) and get it out there. It was difficult some days to want to go out and keep getting turned down, but I knew that a job wasn't going to find me, I had to go and get it.

I am going through applications and am going to hire by the end of the month. Work is coming in and companies are statrting to hire I recommend checking back with those you may have visited last month.I know if Jonh Doe called me monday checking in I would give his app a little more attention as he is taking initiative.

Since I am retarded . . . UH . . . retired, I don't have a feel for the construction trades activity. However, over the last several months, my investments have picked up by almost 10%. That leads me to believe that things are starting to pick up. It is very difficult to go on without getting political so I will stop here.

Went to a conference a couple of weeks ago and several economics professors/forecasters said the economy should turn around by late 2009, early 2010. Housing will be more like Aug or Sep 2010.

roadtechs.com go to the link on the left and click on the shops. I make a distribution list and send out my resume about every 6 months for a companies records, or you could just do a search for electricians. I usually work everything east of the Mississippi. I am in Dothan AL and soon I will be in Clemson, SC for a month. Just throwing a bone out to anyone that might need it. indeed.com is another nice job search site.

Congrats on the job!!
