That's a step ahead of DALI. I don't know how well it would work if you must address hundreds of them though.

It's a decorative piece for sure. So far, nobody really used an RGB based system because of their lousy efficacy and color rendition.

I don't even see the least amount of similarity.

Where does Hubbell have a light bulb with WIFI built in the bulb?

It's not built into the bulb, it's built into the fixture. That alone seems to make more sense anyway. When your lamp dies you buy a new lamp? Why would you do that?

I have an Internet controllable thermostat that works great, but I just don't really see the efficiency of wifi control of such a low wattage load, but I reckon it's just the coolness factor.

Apple came out with that for the Iphone a few months ago. I see it as a toy and nothing more
Don't be hatin'.:D

This is just a step towards a smarter energy grid. Saw a demo a while back where the POCO sends a notice that the pre-pay was about to expire or had expired and the customer could pay on their phone and get more usage allocated. The customer could remotely re-activate their meter if the POCO would not do it for them because of the old "pizza box on the stove" fear.

You can link into your security system, cut on yard lights or interior lights, get alarm reports, scan the home interior using cameras, etc.. Yeah, it is a bit of a toy but can also serve a practical purpose.
