We are changing a 100 amp service to a 200 amp service with a new 200 amp breaker panel. I need to run a 2" pipe from the new panel to the existing part of the new house and take the wires from the 100 amp panel to a j-box. I will pull 20 20 amp circuts to the new j-box. How many grounds do I need to pull from the new panel to the j-box. Some of the old wiring has no ground.

Yes the derating will bite you in the rear, why not run a 100 amp feeder over to the old panel and just refeed it after separating the neutrals and grounds?

If I was faced with the same choices, #1 would be what Bob suggested: leave the existing panel as a sub-panel.

If I had to extend 20 20a circuits to a new panel, I'd gut the existing panel, use it as a J-box, and run 10 12/3's.

The direct answer to the original question is that the EGC need only be as large as required for the largest circuit.

A) Install a sub panel

B) use romex/no pipe

C) Install 3, 3/4" conduits.

Whatever you do, install GFCI breakers for the ungrounded circuits. It will allow the use of grounded receps.
