Gentleman,
I am new to this forum and would just like to say hey. I never new these construction forums existed so I'm glad I found it.

I little bit about me, I am a project engineer for a large general contracting firm in Alaska and have little electrical experience which is my down fall. I have been in the trades all of my life but unfortunately I never could pull myself away from swinging a hammer or pouring concrete. This tends to be a burden on my professional career especially during meetings with electrical engineers and problems that inevitably come up when constructing multi million dollar facilities. But that is beside the point.

My question is on residential rough wiring. My wife and I just bought our first house and have to completely renovate it. Apparently the house was rewired in 1985 and from what I have seen it is wired with 14-2 NM. I don't have to do anything major to get the place up to par and hopefully will not have to run a new circuit. My only complicated run (for me anyway) will be for the ceiling fan in the foyer/stairway/entry area. It will have to be a four-way switch; 3 switches controlling the light with 2 switches controlling the fan. By code, as you all well know, says you have to be able to control the light at the top and bottom of the stairs. This is also where the fan has to be controlled and at the entry I just need to control the light if that makes any sense? I have no problem roughing in wire for receptacles and lights in the rest of the house but it seems like I might run into a snag with this ceiling fan.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Oh, and don't worry, I am having of my electrical subs inspect everything before it's covered up.
