My right hand man asked why I don't charge that to the company. It's because these are MY tools and they stay on MY truck.

You need 5/16, 3/8 and 1/2 sizes. You could buy long arm regular allen wrenchs, the six point sockets and some epoxy. Cut off the long arm just before the bend, glue it into the appropriate socket and -- viola! -- you have what you need with no waiting and lower price.

Why ? maybe I'm just mis reading that correctly, @ Lunch stood there spinnning magifiires in hand to witness them spin apart, LOL ...
This one jobs over for me .. Err "Next"

I do like the thought of 6-point ...

The action of torque is not (in the big Picture) effected by the offset distance, your cutting what? I've Checked that equation, I beleive I sitting correct.

Cadpoint,
"Cut off the long arm just before the bend, "
No matter how simple and obvious I try to make my point, there is somebody out there in the ether who manages to get befundled.
There are ordinary hex keys and there are long arm hex keys. When working torque in panels, you will benefit [Ben E feet -- see the Harpo meets Lucy episode of "I love Lucy"] from a deep reach. The long arm of an allen wrench is about 6" long. You cut that off because you want or need a long piece of 5/16" or 3/8" or 1/2" hexagonal stock.
You then glue that straight piece -- not the short and curved piece into your six point socket. Have I made myself clear?

OK, But I don't usually have millrights time to modify my tools... I either have the correct tool or I don't, or its brought in due to course work.

Sorry to distract

I usually do not find the need for a millwright to cut a allen wrench, a chop saw works very well.

Well we can only hope to be as prepared as yourself.
