Does anyone know of any specific referrences to maintenance in the NEC. Also looking for any requirement for one line diagrams from the NEC. We are trying to document reasons for a maintenance program to management and would like to use verbage other than it will save you money. They do not believe in spending to save!!!

The NEC does not provide instructions, nor even basic guidance, regarding maintenance. It does not require the creation or upkeep of one line diagrams. Sorry, but you'll need another source to help convince your management.

The second paragraph of the NEC is the first mention of maintenance. Yes we have sources other than the NEC, but am looking for a little more ammunition when we have to enter into the battle.

NFPA70E Chapter 2 covers safety related maintenance.
Basically, arc flash PPE is only valid for properly maintained equipment (if the equipment cannot clear the fault safely no amount of PPE will help).

Do you have the installation manuals for all the electrical equipment that you

want to do maintenance on ?

I know most of the new manuals for Panels, Transformers, etc. advise some

kind of maintenance. These are the Manfr. instructions. 110.3 (B)
