Does anybody know where to find in the NFPA 72 the requirements for connecting access control devices such as door holders, magnetic locks, or anything connected to egress doors? Or is this a building code requirement?

Try 6.16 of NFPA 72. (That's the 2007 edition.)

The building code will have requirements for magnetic locks, and it will determine which doors need to provide a fire seperation.

Thanks for the location!

Also, building code has a means of egress section (1008 NYC building code) sub section 1008.1.3.2 "Power-operated doors" & 1008.1.3.4 "Access-controlled entrance doors"

Also in NFPA 101 Life Safety. Electric door locks must release if Fire Alarm is tripped, if a motion detector sees a person in side door, and, for a panic hardware door, the door must open when the panic bar is pressed, not when the panic bar is pressed and another "door open" button is also pressed.
