If the Elevator Pit is un sprinklered do you need a Smoke Detector. Also, if the hoist way is un sprinklered do you need a smoke detector.

Just went through an inspection the other day. Elevator pit was sprinkled with no smokes in the pit. Shaft was sprinkled with heat and smoke detectors in it. Depends on AHJ.
