NFPA - TIA 1748 GROUND FAULT CIRCUIT INTERRUPTERS

mtnelect

HVAC & Electrical Contractor
Location
Southern California
Occupation
Contractor, C10 & C20 - Semi Retired
This is going to be a disaster for this summer.

These new locations contain appliances which are significantly more complex than appliances in past
GFCI locations such as bathrooms and kitchen countertops. While a GFCI may be suitable for
protection on circuits powering hair dryers and blenders, they are not suitable for protection on more
complex appliances which are subject to efficiency requirements. GFCIs must be modernized before
they are required to be connected to more complex loads. While this modernization takes place,
GFCI protection must be paused to protect consumers.
