NFPA13

I am being told from an Engineer that MC cable must be used if the building falls under NFPA13. However, Type NM can be used if it falls under NFPA13R. Does anyone have insight on this?
I am unaware that the sprinkler code had anything to do with this...

There is nothing in NFPA 13 restricting the use of MC or NM cable. The NEC (NFPA 70) takes care of the "uses permitted" and "uses not permitted"

Ask him to clarify if he means just the wiring which is subject to 13 or if he means all wiring in the building.
